As a teenager, Matt trained for the Olympics as a distance runner and was nationally ranked as a scholastic athlete. While in the Americorps NCCC he began training others in running and strength training. A few years after beginning a career as a forest firefighter and developing physical training programs for fire crews across the U.S., Matt decided to move to Reno to begin his career as a personal trainer.
His unique personality and dedication to his clients has made him a success in a very difficult business. This gym is a realization of the philosophies and techniques Matt has developed for his clients over the years.
Matt is also an accomplished runner and cyclist.
Mark Hollingsworth has a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from San Diego State University. Prior to moving to Reno in 2008 he worked 19 years in a Los Angeles hospital as an Exercise Specialist in Cardiac Rehabilitation. He also administered fitness tests for Los Angeles County Firefighters and Sheriff Deputies. Since doing his first triathlon and marathon in 1981, he has completed 19 Ironman distance triathlons in 10 countries, 15 more marathons (including three Boston Marathons), and 16 ultramarathons varying in distance from 28-100 miles. His current goal is to complete his 20th Ironman in 20 years. When not training he enjoys traveling, spending time with his new bride, and enjoying the outdoors.
Sean Stafford has lived in Reno for 6 years. Originally from Las Vegas Sean moved to Reno to Attend UNR. Since moving to Reno Sean has received a Bachelor of Science in Health Ecology and is also working towards becoming a NASM certified personal trainer. Sean is a trainer at Pendola Training and a Reno and Running Fitness marathon pacer. When Sean is not working with the running community he pursues his own running goals. Sean placed second in the Reno Rock n’ River Marathon posting a 2:43 and won the 2008 Tahoe Half Marathon. Sean is currently training for the Xterra National Trail Championships, a half marathon race that will take place this September in Bend Oregon. Sean has always loved the running community and enjoys not only being an athlete within that community but also a coach.
